Bentley Map V8i (SELECTseries 10) Help

To Insert a Boundary by Bearing

  1. Select the Insert Bearing Line tool from the menu.

A line beginning with LOC TRAV appears in the Command list box between the To_POB and From_POB indicators and below the active (highlighted) line. The bearing and distance values from the last active line appear on the command line.

  2. Turn on Traverse if the line is a preamble or traverse used to locate the true POB or continued portion of a feature. Turn it off if the line is a true edge.
  3. Select the first field that needs editing and click the correct bearing or numbers as described below.

When you select a directional field the compass rose opens.

  4. Click on the appropriate bearing or key in the bearing notation.

When you select a numeric field the numeric keypad opens at the bottom of the menu. The Degrees, Minutes, and Seconds are the bearing deflect angle in standard survey notation. Length is the distance offset to the new edge's endpoint and is automatically converted to feet (in the Command list box) from whatever units were specified from the Units menu. Seconds may be entered as a decimal fraction and degrees and minutes are whole numbers. Under the Command list box a display area gives the current figure closure distance and bearing. It is updated for each new command entered.

  5. Click the numbers to rapidly fill the selected numeric fields. The numbers are entered from left to right and overwrite the previous value.
